Women's Wellness

Last week over on Instagram I held a poll asking the ladies if they had every tried seed cycling. The majority were unfamiliar with this nutritional powerhouse of support, so I was inspired to share more.

Before I get into that, I want to preface by sharing why this matters so much to me. In my early 20's, I went through the most uncomfortable hormonal troubles. I was going through intense debilitating pain that made it impossible in moments to stand. So, I went to the doctor for help. I was scoffed at. "You're too young, it's just cramps." I felt so frustrated as I knew it was much more than cramps. So, I went to another doctor. I was told the same thing, and offered birth control. Dismissed. If there was ever a moment I could remember the rage that moved through my body, this one stands out very vividly. I asked if they would please help me look into it further, and explained that I would like to avoid being sent off with a pill that carried so many side effects unless I exhausted all other options. They unwillingly agreed to an ultrasound.

I remember being in that room and hoping they could find an answer that didn't make me feel like it was just all in my head. Looking back, that makes me really sad knowing how many other women feel the same way. The tests came back and they explained I had cysts. Phew atleast we know there's a cause right? Depends on who you ask. Nurse: "The cysts are small, and they wouldn't cause you this pain. They are only a problem if they become larger. Many have them much larger without any complications. Birth control will help." I kindly but furiously requested that they respect my wishes to stop recommending birth control and told them I would find other options and help myself. They didn't like this.. and told me if I didn't it could become cancerous down the line so this was very important to consider. Interesting. My health wasn't a concern until I refused the quick fix pill? I'll be on my way.

I went off to study nutrition in AZ, found a deeper appreciation for plants/herbs, discovered my love for hiking, and enjoyed noticing how much better I was feeling. It went in waves over the next several years, as I was navigating working in corporate world at the time and my overall habits weren't as locked in as I know they could have been. There were a few more doctor visits down the line with more tests as the pain would sometimes return. But I was beginning to notice a pattern. I was creating a relationship with my body so I could tell it was essentially a flare up during times of less stress management and without the consistent support of nourishing foods. I thought all that time I needed to focus on supplements and fitness when my body was telling me to slow down more and truly nourish myself on other levels as well.

Lifestyle habits, and unlearning needing to be busy every minute, led me to begin practicing a slower more mindful life. I discovered patience and appreciation for my body. Realizing, it was there communicating and asking me to listen. Almost 5 years ago I discovered an integrative wellness coaching program that felt so aligned with where I wanted to continue learning, as well as how I could begin to support the countless women who expressed similar stories. It deepened my understanding of approaching wellness in a much more all encompassing way. And, helped me connect to the roots more with gut/hormonal health. From there on out was the start of "Intuitively Yours." For years now, I've felt healthier and more energetic than ever. What a blessing to now help others on that path as well.

Whether it's through wellness coaching, retreats, or yoga, everything I do here is to help women connect with their intuition and trust their body. You deserve to feel your best, you deserve to feel seen and heard. When your body is speaking to you, and your are told not to trust it, it's a disservice to your power. Women's wellness has been understudied, dismissed, and mocked for too long. Here, you get to take back that power you magical being. ♥

I'll begin sharing more wellness segments going forward. (shorter, I promise!)

So, one of my favorite, affordable, and simple ways to support your hormones?
Seed Cycling.

For generations, women have been told that feeling exhausted, anxious, moody, or painfully out of balance is simply “normal.” Many leave appointments feeling dismissed, handed a prescription, and left to navigate their symptoms alone.

The good news? Supporting your body does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes the most powerful shifts begin with the simplest habits. Seed cycling is a gentle, food-based practice that uses specific seeds during different phases of your menstrual cycle to provide nutrients that may support hormone health.

It’s easy to add to most of your meals or smoothies, and gives your body a meaningful boost of:

  • Protein (more than you might think!)
  • Fiber
  • Omega-3 fats
  • Zinc
  • Selenium
  • Vitamin E
  • Lignans (plant compounds that support estrogen metabolism)

This becomes especially valuable during perimenopause, when protein and nutrient density are more important than ever for maintaining muscle, energy, and hormonal resilience.

First Half of Your Cycle (Follicular Phase)

Day 1 of your period through ovulation (approximately Days 1–14)

Daily:

  • 1 tablespoon ground Flaxseed
  • 1 tablespoon Pumpkin seeds

Second Half of Your Cycle (Luteal Phase)

After ovulation until your next period (approximately Days 15–28)

Daily:

  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Sunflower seeds

Seed cycling is not a magic fix, but it is a simple and nourishing ritual that helps you tune into your body and consistently provide key nutrients your hormones rely on. Even if you don't remember to add them to your food, you can just eat your spoonfuls with a glass of water. Easy! Share this with the ladies in your life!

Dora Update

This girl is a warrior. From the time that she arrived, she was impressive. And now, her story is even more inspiring. If you followed along from the beginning of this story, you know she was abandoned and I was only helping her "temporarily" while finding her a home. That was almost 4 weeks ago. I was unable to find her a home, so yes, I'm officially going to keep her as part of the family. She arrived loaded with ticks, and clearly needing to be spayed. I found treatment for her, then took her in for surgery, vaccines, etc. A few days later, something was very wrong. Her energy plummeted in a scary way, and I didn't know if she would make it through the night honestly. I called the clinic who was incredibly kind and responsive. They convinced me to hang tight and the doctor would be there first thing in the morning to help. I hardly slept. She would barely lift her head, and after seeing her bubbly personality change so quickly was heartbreaking. She brought antibiotics, vitamin injections, inflammatory injections, and a blood test. We let her rest, and hoped for positive news. Now, her energy is improving but her blood tests were very concerning. The doctor said most dogs wouldn't survive, but this girls spirit will help her pull through. It turns out, the ticks had left her with a serious illness and with the surgery it made it to where her body couldn't fight (lowered immune system.) We aren't giving up. Because so many of you have graciously asked how to support us, I've finally decided to open up to help allowing me to ensure she receives the best care possible. Your help will assist with the unexpected vet bills, meds, contributing to the clinic who works to help as many dogs in need as possible, and I would also very much like to take care of the angel doctor who went above and beyond to drive to us with such care. If you'd like to contribute, any amount is appreciated.

We appreciate your support, even if it's sending her healing energy! She is going to make it, and she deserves the world.

Thank you so much for your love and support.
